FOUNDER PLAYBOOK
How to make a founder event worth your time
The most valuable outcome of a business event is rarely the number of business cards collected.
Arrive with a purpose
Choose two or three concrete outcomes: meeting potential channel partners, exploring a hiring need, learning a new distribution model or finding a peer with the same operating challenges.
Prepare a short explanation
State whom you serve, what problem you solve, what evidence you have and what you are looking for. Keep it conversational and adapt it to the person in front of you.
Ask better questions
Instead of immediately pitching, ask about customer problems, operating bottlenecks or the other person’s learning. A useful conversation begins with curiosity.
Follow up specifically
Within a few days, send a short message reminding the recipient where you met, the topic discussed and one concrete next action. Keep your commitments.
